    About the role#

    The Youth Enrichment Intern supports the K12 Enrichment Program by organizing and supervising activities for Native American students and their families. This is a paid, full-time, on-site role based in Grand Ronde, Oregon. The position requires a commitment to serving as a role model for academic achievement and involves occasional work during evenings, weekends, and overnight events.

    What you'll do#

    • Organize and implement youth day or overnight activities, serving in either a lead or assistant capacity.
    • Supervise students during on-site activities, local field trips, and after-school programs.
    • Provide frequent feedback and guidance to students using positive communication skills.
    • Collaborate with tribal and community programs to conduct educational activities.
    • Maintain program inventory, acquire necessary materials, and assist with event preparation and cleanup.
    • Communicate program information to the public and tribal members.
    • Monitor student safety, handle discipline according to policy, and report incidents or concerns to supervisors.
    • Operate tribal vehicles to transport students and staff.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in a college program (Human Resources, Public Health, Nursing, Psychology, or Sociology preferred) with at least one semester or 12 credits completed.
    • Demonstrated ability to relate well to children of various age levels and communicate effectively with parents.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • First Aid/CPR certification (or the ability to obtain it within 60 days of hire).
    • Knowledge of and sensitivity to Native American cultures.
    • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform tasks requiring repetitive hand and wrist movement.
    • Successful completion of criminal and character background checks, which may include fingerprinting.

    Location & details#

    • Location: Grand Ronde, Oregon.
    • Work Modality: On-site.
    • Compensation: $18.86 – $24.07 per hour.
    • Schedule: Full-time with occasional overnight, evening, and weekend requirements.
