About the role#
The Youth Enrichment Intern supports the K12 Enrichment Program by organizing and supervising activities for Native American students and their families. This is a paid, full-time, on-site role based in Grand Ronde, Oregon. The position requires a commitment to serving as a role model for academic achievement and involves occasional work during evenings, weekends, and overnight events.
What you'll do#
- Organize and implement youth day or overnight activities, serving in either a lead or assistant capacity.
- Supervise students during on-site activities, local field trips, and after-school programs.
- Provide frequent feedback and guidance to students using positive communication skills.
- Collaborate with tribal and community programs to conduct educational activities.
- Maintain program inventory, acquire necessary materials, and assist with event preparation and cleanup.
- Communicate program information to the public and tribal members.
- Monitor student safety, handle discipline according to policy, and report incidents or concerns to supervisors.
- Operate tribal vehicles to transport students and staff.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a college program (Human Resources, Public Health, Nursing, Psychology, or Sociology preferred) with at least one semester or 12 credits completed.
- Demonstrated ability to relate well to children of various age levels and communicate effectively with parents.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and strong verbal and written communication skills.
- First Aid/CPR certification (or the ability to obtain it within 60 days of hire).
- Knowledge of and sensitivity to Native American cultures.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform tasks requiring repetitive hand and wrist movement.
- Successful completion of criminal and character background checks, which may include fingerprinting.

- Compensation: $18.86 – $24.07 per hour.
- Schedule: Full-time with occasional overnight, evening, and weekend requirements.
