Chemical Engineer (or Chemistry) Intern

About the role#

The Chemours Company is seeking a Chemical Engineer or Chemistry intern to join the Pigment Technology team. This role provides hands-on experience within a chemical plant, working alongside experienced R&D professionals and engineers to apply classroom knowledge to real-time engineering projects. This is a full-time, 40-hour per week position based at the Chemours Discovery Hub in Newark, Delaware, for the Fall 2026 term (August through December).

What you'll do#

• Collaborate with R&D professionals on process and pigment technology developmental projects.
• Participate in process safety management activities and reviews.
• Contribute to team meetings and conference calls.
• Support multiple projects through data analysis and the development of data analysis tools.
• Maintain data recordkeeping and organization in accordance with intellectual property policies.
• Conduct lab work involving the design, operation, and optimization of lab-scale unit operations, including reactors, crystallizers, distillation columns, filtration, rotary kiln dryers, and mixers.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment at an accredited college or university as a Sophomore or above.
• Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• A GPA of 3.0 or above is preferred.
• Participation in relevant activities, organizations, or projects beyond the classroom is preferred.
• Experience with chemical processes (reaction engineering, thermodynamics, titration, distillation), a minor in data science, or knowledge of programming languages (Matlab, Python, Visual Basic) is considered a plus.
