About the role#
The Brook Hill Alliance offers an opportunity for teacher trainees to gain experience teaching English as a Foreign Language in a virtual classroom. This internship is designed for those looking to fulfill practicum requirements for degree programs or gain additional teaching experience. You will instruct international students in live video sessions, focusing on speaking skills.
What you'll do#
- Deliver well-prepared online English as a Foreign Language lessons.
- Review the provided curriculum and prepare to supplement it with additional materials when necessary.
- Practice classroom management techniques to ensure a comfortable learning environment.
- Collaborate with the Head Office regarding instructional methods and curriculum.
- Complete online training and attend an orientation session.
- Take daily attendance and maintain professional communication with the Head Office.
What you'll need#
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Enrollment in or completion of a teacher training program is strongly preferred.
- A Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Proficiency in Zoom and Google Suite.
- A webcam, preferably HDD.
- An internet connection with at least 4 Mbps download and upload speed.
- An Intel i5 processor or equivalent and 4GB of RAM.
- A microphone and speaker, with noise-canceling headphones preferred.
Location & details#
- This role is remote.
- The internship is unpaid.
- The minimum time requirement is 15 hours, including at least 5 hours of observation and 10 hours of teaching practice.
- Classes generally occur on weekdays between 10:00am and 2:30pm EST.
- Scheduling is based on intern availability and course enrollment.
