Lead Student Payment Specialist

About the role#

The Lead Student Payment Specialist oversees campus-based payment operations across an assigned region. This role is responsible for ensuring consistent execution of cashiering, payment processing, and reconciliation activities while maintaining institutional standards for compliance and service delivery. The position acts as a liaison between campus staff and centralized financial operations to ensure operational accuracy.

What you'll do#

• Supervise Student Payment Specialists, including performance management, coaching, and training.
• Oversee daily payment processing, deposit preparation, and reconciliation to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
• Coordinate with Student Accounts and External Services to resolve student account issues.
• Ensure strict adherence to cash handling policies, internal controls, and PCI compliance requirements.
• Monitor operational performance and identify opportunities to improve workflows and enhance service delivery.
• Manage staffing priorities and workflow distribution across multiple campus locations.

What you'll need#

• Associate degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of three years of experience in cashiering operations or financial services.
• At least one year of supervisory experience.
• Strong knowledge of reconciliation processes, internal controls, and financial compliance.
• Ability to manage and lead geographically distributed staff.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration and experience in higher education bursar operations are preferred.
