About the role#
The Student Assistant supports the Policy Internship Programs at Texas A&M University. This team manages internships in Washington, D.C., Austin, and international locations. The role suits students interested in public policy, public service, political science, student affairs, human resources, or leadership studies.
What you'll do#
- Promote programs by attending career fairs, classes, and student organization meetings.
- Help students define their career goals.
- Assist with planning and running intern interviews, trainings, and events.
- Edit intern materials such as résumés, cover letters, and writing samples.
- Manage spreadsheets, timelines, and program documentation.
- Draft letters, memos, and meeting materials for stakeholders.
- Communicate with internship placements, donors, and university departments.
- Observe and participate in interactions between legislative offices, governmental agencies, and non-profit organizations.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a degree-seeking student at the Texas A&M University main campus in College Station.
- Major within the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
- Strong writing and public speaking skills.
- Comfort interacting with students, public officials, and governmental agencies.
- Ability to solve problems, act independently, and think critically.
- Preference is given to former interns of the ANRP, PPIP, or PPSP programs.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site position in College Station, Texas.
- The role is part-time, requiring 20 hours per week.
- The schedule is flexible based on your academic commitments, though occasional evening and weekend hours are required for events.
- This is a paid position.
