About the role#
The Nurse Extern role provides expanded clinical experience for senior nursing students. You will work alongside a Registered Nurse to assist with patient care, planning, and evaluation. This position is designed to help you build practical skills while supporting our nursing staff.
What you'll do#
- Assist patients with activities of daily living.
- Provide basic patient care to meet physical, emotional, and social needs.
- Perform unit secretary clerical duties.
- Carry out nursing interventions learned in clinical training and validated by an RN.
- Participate in patient care planning, implementation, and observation.
- Report significant patient observations to a Registered Nurse.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited RN program.
- Successful entry into your senior year of nursing school.
- Completion of a Nursing fundamentals course.
- AHA BLS certification.
- You must pass all senior courses to remain in the program.
