About the role#
The EMT Extern role supports the PMC EMS department by managing fleet operations and technology. You will work under the direction of the Assistant Chief of Fleet, Logistics and Technology to maintain department readiness in a cost-effective manner. This role requires active participation in an approved EMT education program.
What you'll do#
- Coordinate and perform Fleet Mechanic functions.
- Cross-train across all areas of the Fleet, Logistics and Technology division.
- Manage fleet technology, including inventory, repairs, replacements, and distribution.
- Oversee Physio Control equipment, including inventory lists and maintenance scheduling.
- Assess and troubleshoot equipment to recommend outside vendor repairs.
- Attend clinical inservice sessions.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support EMS operations.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma or GED.
- Current South Carolina or North Carolina driver's license.
- Satisfactory participation in an approved EMT education program.
- BLS certification (must be obtained within 7 days of hire).
- South Carolina and National Registry EMT certifications (must be obtained within six months).
- PEPP certification (must be obtained within six months).
- NIMS compliance with Incident Command/Incident Management (must be obtained within 90 days).
