About the role#
This is a paid, full-time co-op position based on-site in Winston Salem, North Carolina. You will work within our Pilot Plant and laboratory environments to support product development and manufacturing operations.
What you'll do#
- Support the Pilot Plant by assisting machine operators and planning or executing development trials.
- Implement operational solutions, including tracking inventory, run rates, and extruder-laminator parameters.
- Perform physical testing and analytical support for product development and troubleshooting.
- Conduct package testing, such as heat seals, mullen burst, caliper, basis weight, COF, tensile strength, and elongation.
- Document test results in the Lotus Notes Analysis Request Database.
- Prepare written reports and presentations to summarize findings for customers.
- Coordinate with operational, quality, and manufacturing teams to resolve product performance issues.
- Maintain inventories of trial rolls within the laboratory and development areas.
What you'll need#
- You are a rising Junior or Senior student.
- You are pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Packaging Engineering, Polymer Science, Polymer Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
- You have a hands-on aptitude for laboratory work and mechanical curiosity.
- You possess strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- You have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Location: Winston Salem, North Carolina.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Pay: $22.00 per hour.
- Additional Benefits: $500 sign-on bonus, $400 per month housing stipend, 5 days of PTO, and eligibility for holiday pay and overtime.
