About the role#
Schwickert's Tecta America is hiring an HVAC-R Intern to work on-site in Savage, Minnesota. This position offers hands-on experience with commercial HVAC-R systems. You will work alongside experienced technicians to learn the skills required for a career in the trade. This is a paid, full-time, rolling internship.
What you'll do#
- Assist technicians with troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining commercial HVAC-R equipment.
- Help install commercial HVAC-R systems, ductwork, and specialty equipment.
- Participate in system start-ups and regular equipment cleaning.
- Follow safety procedures and learn to use trade-specific tools under the direction of crew foremen.
- Keep your work area clean and organized.
- Take part in hands-on training and other learning opportunities.
What you'll need#
- A strong interest in building a career in the HVAC-R trade.
- The ability to take direction from experienced technicians.
- Physical ability to lift 50+ pounds and work in various positions, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and climbing.
- Comfort working at heights.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Current enrollment or interest in HVAC-R, mechanical, or technical training is preferred.
- Previous mechanical or construction experience is a plus.
- A valid driver's license is preferred.
- A willingness to obtain EPA certification.
