About the role#
The Nurse Extern in the CVMSICU supports patient care while gaining clinical experience. You will work under the supervision of a registered nurse to build your skills and knowledge in a hospital setting.
What you'll do#
- Acquire basic clinical skills and knowledge related to patient care.
- Perform delegated patient care services under the supervision of a registered nurse.
- Assist patients with their daily living activities.
- Maintain a safe environment for patients.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited registered nursing program.
- Completion of at least one clinical semester of the core nursing curriculum.
- An active American Heart Association CPR/BLS Healthcare Provider card.
- Ability to work 32 hours per month, including one weekend shift.
- Commitment to working one major summer holiday and one major winter holiday.
- Completion of a mandatory full-week hospital orientation, Monday through Friday, 8a-5p.
