About the role#
The School Psychologist Extern applies theory, principles, and methodology to assess, implement, and evaluate plans of action based on student needs. This role supports the learning, social-emotional, and adaptive functioning of students from pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade. The extern will address mental, social, emotional, behavioral, and developmental conditions within the school community. Due to the need to coordinate with families and community agencies, a flexible schedule is required.
What you'll do#
- Conduct psycho-educational assessments appropriate to student concerns and professional standards.
- Provide academic, social-emotional, and behavioral interventions to support student adjustment.
- Develop and modify interventions and programs based on collected data.
- Collaborate with educational teams to develop and monitor IEP goals and behavior plans.
- Attend parent-teacher conferences and team meetings as needed.
- Assist in the identification of environmental factors affecting student learning.
- Participate as a member of the district crisis team.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as a doctoral-level student with an interest in long-term school-based practice.
- Proficiency in psycho-educational and behavioral assessment techniques.
- Ability to utilize data-based decision-making for academic and behavioral problem-solving.
- Experience or training in crisis intervention.
- Strong collaboration skills for working with educational teams, families, and community partners.
- Academic background in Psychology, Sociology, or Public Health.
