About the role#
This externship program provides practical experience in a small animal practice. You will work alongside our veterinary team to gain hands-on experience and prepare for your career. The program is flexible, with rotations typically lasting two to three weeks, though they can range from two to eight weeks to fit your college curriculum. You will be assigned a mentor to help you meet your specific learning goals and will receive a written evaluation of your performance at the end of your rotation.
What you'll do#
- Gather patient histories and perform physical examinations.
- Develop diagnostic and therapeutic plans.
- Scrub in to surgery and assist in managing medical cases.
- Provide wellness care for patients.
- Produce medical records including SOAPs.
- Develop your client communication and technical skills.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited DVM program.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Professional liability insurance.

- Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Includes days, evenings, and weekends.
- Compensation: A stipend of $250 per week is provided.
