About the role#
As a Substation Technician Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in an electric utility. You will work with a safety-conscious team, receive one-on-one training, and travel throughout the service territory to perform work outdoors.
What you'll do#
You will install, inspect, test, and repair substation equipment. This includes power transformers, load tap changers, high voltage circuit breakers, switchgear, and various electronic systems. You will work with alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC) circuits between 48 and 600 volts. You will also learn to read and understand construction drawings, manufacturers' specifications, and schematic diagrams.
What you'll need#
You must be currently enrolled in a post-high school technical certification program in industrial electrical, instrument and control, or electronics.
Location & details#
This is a full-time, paid, on-site role with a rolling term. Positions are available in Great Bend, Kansas, and Concordia, Kansas.
