About the role#
This internship provides an opportunity to work within the Engineering Group at Sunbelt Controls. You will support Design Engineers with daily project tasks, learn control applications theory, and participate in an engineering development program. This is a paid, full-time position for Summer 2026.
What you'll do#
- Assist Design Engineers with specific project tasks and engineering functions.
- Participate in training and development to master engineering design tools.
- Perform basic program and graphics modifications.
- Create hardware application designs.
- Support project closeout activities, including as-built control diagrams and operational manuals.
- Participate in field commissioning activities to support field technicians.
- Track project checkout documentation and as-built conditions.
- Complete OSHA 10 safety training.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited university engineering program, preferably in Mechanical Engineering.
- Alternatively, 2 to 5 years of related work experience in the building automation systems industry.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and any relevant technical school training.
- Proficiency with MS Office, Windows, and file structures.
- Experience with MS Visio is preferred.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet project schedules.
- Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to lift or move up to 50 lbs occasionally.

- Location: Renton, Washington.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $18.00 to $25.00 per hour.
