About the role#
The X-Ray Extern role at Summit Health offers a hands-on opportunity to gain experience in a clinical radiology setting. This position is open to students pursuing degrees in Nursing, Biomedical Sciences, Health Administration, Public Health, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Kinesiology, Biology, or Chemistry. This is a full-time, paid, on-site role with a rolling term.
What you'll do#
- Shadow preceptors during imaging tasks and clinical procedures.
- Assist with room and equipment preparation before and after imaging studies.
- Help position patients for imaging.
- Greet and escort patients throughout the facility.
- Restock supplies and handle medical equipment.
- Serve as a liaison between patients and the imaging team.
- Assist with patient flow and support staff experience initiatives.
What you'll need#
- Interest in learning Radiology workflows, metrics, and processes.
- Willingness to learn the Quality Assurance program and radiation safety policies.
- Ability to assist with the administration of radiation under supervision.
- Commitment to learning Quality Control documentation.
