About the role#
The X-Ray Extern role at Summit Health provides an opportunity to gain practical experience within a clinical imaging environment. This position involves shadowing preceptors, assisting with patient interactions, and learning the technical and administrative workflows essential to radiology operations. This is a paid, full-time, on-site internship.
What you'll do#
- Shadow preceptors during imaging tasks and clinical procedures.
- Assist with room and equipment preparation before and after imaging studies.
- Greet and escort patients throughout the facility.
- Help manage patient flow and serve as a liaison between patients and the imaging team.
- Position patients and assist in setting proper technical factors for imaging.
- Review screening questionnaires and handle medical equipment.
- Restock supplies and maintain the clinical environment.
- Learn quality control documentation, radiation safety policies, and radiology workflows.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a relevant academic program, such as Nursing, Health Administration, Biomedical Sciences, Public Health, or Biology.
- Ability to assist with patient flow and support staff experience initiatives.
- Interest in understanding radiology metrics and clinical processes.
- Commitment to professional shadowing and learning clinical documentation standards.
