About the role#
Stevenson Village Veterinary offers externship and preceptorship opportunities for students currently enrolled in a DVM program. This program provides practical experience in a small animal practice to help you prepare for your career after graduation. You will work alongside our veterinary team under the supervision of a mentor doctor to meet your specific learning goals or those defined by your college curriculum.
What you'll do#
Externs participate in the daily operations of our practice. You will:
- Gather patient histories and perform physical examinations.
- Develop diagnostic and therapeutic plans for medical cases.
- Scrub in to surgery and assist in medical case management.
- Provide wellness care to patients.
- Build client communication skills.
- Refine technical skills.
- Produce medical records, including SOAPs.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited DVM program.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Active professional liability insurance.
Location & details#
- Location: Baltimore, Maryland.
- Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Rolling availability, with rotations typically lasting two to eight weeks. Your schedule will include days, evenings, and weekends.
- Compensation: A stipend of $250 per week is provided.
