About the role#
The Public Service Intern position offers hands-on experience within state government agencies. You will gain exposure to public administration, community outreach, policy analysis, and program management. This role supports the mission and operations of your assigned department while allowing you to apply academic knowledge to real-world tasks.
What you'll do#
- Provide general administrative support by scheduling meetings, organizing files, maintaining records, and preparing correspondence.
- Draft reports, memos, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Conduct research on policy issues, public programs, or legislative matters.
- Analyze data, prepare summaries, and present findings to senior staff.
- Create communication materials such as newsletters, flyers, and social media content.
- Coordinate public meetings, forums, and community events.
What you'll need#
- A high-school diploma.
- Current enrollment in an accredited two- or four-year college or vocational/trade school, or graduation from one within the previous 6 months.
- A basic understanding of public administration, government operations, legislative processes, and public policy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and general office management practices.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Research and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Ability to work in a team, maintain confidentiality, and adapt to changing environments.

- Location: Little Rock, Arkansas.
- Term: Summer 2027 (June 7, 2027 to July 30, 2027).
- This is a full-time, paid position based on a 40-hour workweek.
- Work modality: On-site.
