About the role#
Spoon River Animal Clinic offers a clinical experience for DVM students. This program provides hands-on practice in a mixed animal setting to help you prepare for your career after graduation. You will work alongside our veterinary team to refine your clinical skills under supervision. Each student is assigned a mentor to help meet specific learning goals and college requirements. Your performance will be evaluated at the end of the rotation.
What you'll do#
- Gather patient histories and perform physical examinations.
- Create diagnostic and therapeutic plans.
- Scrub in to surgery and assist with medical case management.
- Provide wellness care for patients.
- Produce medical records including SOAPs.
- Improve your client communication and technical skills.
- Participate in daily patient care activities.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited DVM program.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Proof of professional liability insurance.
- Familiarity with the Veterinary Practice Act and local supervision requirements.
- Professional conduct and adherence to clinic standards.
Location & details#
- Location: Canton, Illinois.
- Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Full-time, including days, evenings, and weekends.
- Duration: Rolling basis, typically two to eight weeks.
- Compensation: $250 weekly stipend.
