About the role#
We are looking for a Student Welder to join our team in Lethbridge. This is a hands-on role for a high school student interested in learning the trade. You will work alongside experienced team members to help build trailers while developing your skills in a manufacturing environment.
What you'll do#
- Start your day with a team huddle and stretch.
- Prepare materials and equipment for welding projects.
- Assist with simple welding tasks under guidance.
- Use hand and power tools like grinders, drills, and plasma cutters safely.
- Measure and check materials to meet project requirements.
- Examine welds and learn to identify quality standards.
- Help with welding and fabrication from various positions, including bending, squatting, and kneeling.
- Keep your work area clean by following 5S housekeeping practices.
- Follow standard operating procedures and instructions.
- Communicate with your mentor or supervisor.
- Participate in on-the-job training.
- Support the team to keep production moving.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in high school (Grade 10, 11, or 12).
- Participation in, or interest in, a welding course.
- A desire to learn and develop welding skills.
- Interest in pursuing a welding apprenticeship and obtaining a blue book.
- Willingness to follow 5S and LEAN manufacturing principles.
- Basic mechanical skills and the ability to use tools safely.
- Physical ability to lift, push, pull, and position materials up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to understand written instructions and perform basic math.
- Strong communication skills and a positive attitude.
