This internship provides nursing students with hands-on experience in a clinical hospital setting. Interns rotate through various departments, working under the supervision of the Nurse Manager and Registered Nurses to provide direct patient care and support unit operations.
What you'll do#
- Perform basic patient care activities and document findings in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Assist with patient admissions, discharges, and transfers.
- Observe patients, report changes in condition or reactions to the Registered Nurse, and respond to call lights.
- Collect patient data, including vital signs, intake and output, and pulse oximetry.
- Perform clinical tasks such as clean non-sterile dressing changes, urinary catheter removal, bladder scans, and point-of-care testing.
- Maintain the patient environment, including routine cleaning and equipment setup.
- Collect various patient specimens and serve as a patient sitter when assigned.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an approved school of nursing.
- A High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a course in basic patient care.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Ability to obtain BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
