About the role#
Southern Mississippi Trading is looking for an AI & Business Analytics Intern to explore how emerging technology impacts our daily work. You will gain hands-on experience identifying and developing practical applications for automation and data analytics. This role involves working across different areas of our business to understand current processes and turn ideas into useful solutions.
What you'll do#
- Explore opportunities to use AI and automation to improve everyday business processes and workflows.
- Analyze business and operational data to identify trends, efficiencies, and actionable insights.
- Evaluate new AI technologies and help determine where they add value across the company.
- Partner with team members in trading and operations to identify potential solutions.
- Help create documentation, training materials, and best practices to support the adoption of new tools.
- Present findings, recommendations, and project outcomes to technical and non-technical audiences.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Business, or a related field.
- A strong interest in artificial intelligence, automation, data, and emerging technology.
- Familiarity with AI tools, data analytics, or basic programming concepts.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a curiosity about how to improve processes.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts in a clear, practical way.
- A self-motivated approach and comfort taking ownership of projects.
- A collaborative mindset and a willingness to learn from different areas of the business.
