About the role#
As a Data Engineering Cooperative Education Intern, you will support the data modernization efforts at Southern Farm Bureau Life Insurance Company. You will work alongside experienced engineers to learn how data moves from source systems into trusted data products. This role focuses on preparing, organizing, and maintaining the data used for reporting, analytics, and business decision-making.
What you'll do#
- Build and maintain data pipelines that move information between systems.
- Monitor data processes and report any issues that affect data quality or availability.
- Support data validation, testing, and documentation tasks.
- Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and business teams to understand data needs and support reporting solutions.
- Create and document datasets, metadata, and business definitions.
- Gain exposure to cloud data platforms, reporting tools, and emerging AI-related data use cases.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Information Systems, Data Science, or Statistics.
- A minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Working knowledge of Python and SQL.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- A driven and curious mindset, with the initiative to contribute beyond assigned tasks.

- This position is based on-site in Jackson, Mississippi.
- This is a paid, full-time internship with a rolling term.
