About the role#
Southern Farm Bureau Life Insurance is hiring a Data Analytics Intern for the summer of 2027. This is a full-time, paid, on-site position based in Jackson, Mississippi. You will work on projects that contribute to business operations while engaging with company leadership and participating in networking events and community service activities.
What you'll do#
- Analyze medical and accelerated underwriting practices.
- Study customer and agent behavior.
- Conduct fraud analytics.
- Present data analysis results to team members and leadership.

What you'll need#
- Completion of your first year in a Master's or PhD program for Biostatistics or Data Science.
- Aptitude for building and implementing predictive models in a well-documented and presented format.
- Experience with development environments such as Python, Java, Power BI, R, or SQL.
- Ability to apply analytical methods to large and complex datasets.
- A preference for working in a collaborative environment.
- Strong attention to detail, initiative, and a willingness to learn.
- Ability to ask questions and follow up on tasks.
