About the role#
South Kendall Animal Hospital offers an externship program for veterinary students looking to gain practical experience in a small animal practice. This program supports your clinical preparation by providing hands-on experience under the supervision of a mentor doctor. Externships are flexible and typically last between two and eight weeks. You will work alongside our team during days, evenings, and weekends to meet your specific learning goals.
What you'll do#
- Gather patient histories and perform physical examinations.
- Develop diagnostic and therapeutic plans for medical cases.
- Scrub in to surgery and assist in patient management.
- Provide wellness care and refine your technical skills.
- Develop client communication skills.
- Produce accurate medical records and SOAPs.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited DVM program.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Current professional liability insurance.
- A professional demeanor and adherence to practice standards.
