Tax Intern

About the role#

SingerLewak LLP is seeking a Tax Intern to join the team in Oxnard, California. Interns work on a variety of diversified accounting assignments under the supervision of professional staff. Performance is evaluated based on the quality of work, the application of accounting knowledge, and the ability to meet time constraints.

What you'll do#

• Record transactions in ledgers, prepare trial balances, and create simple financial statements using accounting software.
• Reconcile accounts to control accounts.
• Perform schedule computations of accruals, property and equipment, and calculate depreciation expense.
• Assist in the preparation of payroll tax, sales tax, local tax, and personal income tax returns.
• Perform audit or review procedures as assigned by supervisors.
• Compile workpapers and other accounting reports required for audits.
• Support other accounting, auditing, and tax duties as needed during engagements.

What you'll need#

• A High School Diploma.
• At least two years of progress toward a bachelor’s degree, typically in Accounting.
