    About the role#

    The Environmental Law Program seeks law students to assist with strategic litigation. You will work with staff attorneys on various aspects of our legal dockets. Interns gain exposure to different litigation styles and participate in weekly team meetings to discuss strategies. This is a paid, full-time position available in Oakland, CA and Washington, DC for Winter, Summer, or Fall 2027.

    What you'll do#

    • Conduct legal research and factual investigation.
    • Prepare written memoranda, public records requests, and draft legal documents.
    • Research prospects for new litigation, including factual and legal claims.
    • Assist in the review of legal documents, instruments, and other material.
    • Attend court appearances and work on discovery as assigned.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment as a JD candidate.
    • Exceptional writing, research, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
    • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
    • A commitment to continuously deepening your understanding of systems of oppression.
    • The ability to recognize your own relationship to privilege and power.
    • An uplifting and additive approach to your work.
    • A demonstrated interest in environmental or public interest law.
