Sidara is seeking a Strategic Communications & Engagement Intern to join the City Solutions team in New York for the Fall 2026 term. This internship focuses on the intersection of infrastructure, storytelling, and community engagement. You will support efforts to translate technical work—such as transportation planning, infrastructure design, and resilience projects—into clear narratives, visuals, and engagement strategies. You will work alongside planners, engineers, designers, and communications professionals to help communicate complex public projects to stakeholders and communities.
What you'll do#
- Conduct research on transportation, infrastructure, and urban policy topics to support outreach efforts.
- Assist in developing presentations, reports, graphics, and written materials for internal and client deliverables.
- Craft narratives that explain complex infrastructure projects to public audiences.
- Support community engagement efforts, including preparation for public meetings and stakeholder outreach.
- Collaborate with the graphic design team to develop infographics, social media content, and storytelling tools.
- Maintain SharePoint sites to support knowledge sharing and coordinate across project teams.
- Contribute to proposals by conducting research and organizing materials that highlight project experience.
- Assist with internal communications and draft thought leadership content.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Affairs, Urban Studies, Urban Planning, Public Policy, Political Science, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Strong writing and storytelling skills with the ability to explain complex ideas clearly.
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and work independently.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator) or knowledge management platforms like SharePoint is a plus.
- A strong interest in cities, transportation, infrastructure, sustainability, or public policy.
