About the role#
Shannon & Wilson is hiring two Geotechnical Interns for the summer of 2027 in our St. Louis office. This role offers students and recent graduates a chance to apply classroom knowledge to active projects. You will work on-site, supporting our team with field and office tasks.
What you'll do#
- Observe construction activities.
- Assist with field explorations and collect samples.
- Conduct geotechnical laboratory tests.
- Prepare reports and perform geological or engineering calculations.
- Communicate with clients, vendors, and staff.
- Follow company policies regarding quality assurance, health, and safety.
What you'll need#
- Completed Junior year of undergraduate coursework in Geology or Civil Engineering.
- 0 to 3 years of experience.
- Knowledge of soil mechanics, foundation engineering, slope stability, or engineering geology.
- Valid driver license and an insurable driving record.
- Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and on uneven terrain.
- Capacity to lift and carry 30+ pounds.
