About the role#
As a software engineering intern, you will build developer-focused security tools to help prevent bugs and vulnerabilities. You will join the team behind Semgrep and ship features that help our services scale and remain reliable. You will work alongside full-stack developers, security researchers, and infrastructure engineers. This role involves direct interaction with customers to understand their security needs and improve their workflows.
What you'll do#
- Design and ship new features in a full-stack codebase.
- Collaborate with users, product managers, and designers to address user pain points.
- Query aggregated metrics and run experiments to improve core Semgrep workflows.
- Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and team demos.
- Learn from a dedicated peer mentor.
- Present your completed work to the team.
What you'll need#
- Completion of multiple college computer science courses or equivalent experience.
- A strong interest in pursuing a career in software engineering.
- Experience with a dynamic language such as Python, Ruby, Javascript, or PHP.
- Enthusiasm for software security and developer enablement.
- Ability to work on-site in our San Francisco office 5 days per week.

- Location: San Francisco, California.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Commitment: Full-time internship.
- Compensation: $2,400 per week for the 11-week program.
