About the role#
Semafor is looking for a Newsroom Fellow to join our video team in New York. This is a paid, full-time, entry-level position. You will work across our coverage areas, including geopolitics, climate change, technology, and business. You will report to the Head of Video and assist with the production and publication of our video shows.
What you'll do#
- Provide administrative, research, and logistical support to the video team.
- Identify newsroom topics that translate well into social video.
- Collaborate with editors and reporters to produce content for our channels.
- Adapt reporter stories into scripts for social video.
- Assist with live event coverage to ensure clips are published after stage interviews.
- Support the team with various production needs as they arise.
What you'll need#
- A strong interest in video production and business journalism.
- Experience working with Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects.
- A broad interest in world events and current issues.
- Familiarity with various video platforms and audience expectations.
- A willingness to handle a variety of tasks.
- Academic background in Journalism, Communications, Media Studies, or Business Administration.
