The TST Preventive Intern provides case management and counseling to families with children exposed to traumatic events. Using the Trauma Systems Therapy (TST) model, the intern works to strengthen relationships between children and their caretakers, focusing on restoring safety, attachment, and appropriate affect. This role covers the Brooklyn area and requires adherence to model fidelity and agency standards.
What you'll do#
- Provide assessment, treatment planning, and interventions to prevent foster care and promote family wellbeing.
- Conduct regular home, office, and field visits.
- Participate in weekly TST Consultation meetings and Family Team Conferencing (FTC).
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including case aides, medical professionals, and legal advocates.
- Assess safety and risk, and implement crisis management and safety plans.
- Manage advocacy and referrals as part of clinically focused case management.
- Complete all required documentation and data entry using mobile technology within established deadlines.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program related to Psychology, Public Health, Sociology, or Nursing.
- Experience with case management.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care.
- Ability to conduct clinical assessments.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
