About the role#
This paid internship offers an opportunity to build career skills, share your ideas, and contribute to science programming at Science North. You will explore science through both Western and Indigenous perspectives while helping create meaningful experiences for children, youth, and families. This role focuses on professional growth, mentorship, and community engagement.
What you'll do#
- Participate on the Indigenous Initiatives Steering Committee and the Indigenous Advisory Committee.
- Support the development of workshops and activities that incorporate Indigenous perspectives.
- Assist with youth science camps, after-school programs, and special events.
- Facilitate program delivery activities for children and families.
- Participate in career development, mentorship, skills training, and networking opportunities.
- Create welcoming and inclusive learning environments.
What you'll need#
- You must self-identify as a member of Atikameksheng Anishnawbek or Wahnapitae First Nation.
- An interest in science, education, community engagement, Indigenous knowledge, or youth programming.
- A willingness to collaborate with others and share your ideas.
- A desire to develop communication, leadership, and teamwork skills.
- You are dependable, enthusiastic, and eager to learn.
- No previous employment experience or formal science background is required.
Location & details#
- This position is based in Sudbury, Ontario.
- The role is part-time, with a commitment required between October and June.
- Work is hybrid, offering flexibility for tasks to be completed virtually or on-site, though some program delivery must take place at Science North.
- Schedules are developed collaboratively to accommodate your availability.
