About the role#
We are looking for an Accounts Payable Supervisor to join our Home Office in Winnipeg. This role reports to the Controller and manages the day-to-day operations of the accounts payable department. You will act as a representative for the Co-op within our communities while maintaining internal financial controls.
What you'll do#
- Plan and manage daily accounts payable activities.
- Train and mentor junior accounting staff.
- Process bi-weekly EFT payments and cheque runs.
- Reconcile monthly vendor statements to the general ledger.
- Review supplier invoices for policy compliance and ensure accurate general ledger coding.
- Research and resolve accounting issues.
- Verify employee reimbursement expenses.
- Manage vendor records and serve as a primary contact for vendors and operations.
- Recommend improvements to internal financial control processes.
- Assist with general accounting and administration duties.
What you'll need#
- At least 3 years of accounts payable experience.
- Two years of experience supervising and training staff.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
- Ability to organize work, set goals, and meet multiple deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with Oracle JD Edwards is preferred.
- Post-secondary education in accounting is considered an asset.
