As a Bioreactor Application & Testing Intern, you will work on-site at our Marlborough facility to support the development of bioreactor solutions. You will be responsible for cultivating mammalian and microbial systems and conducting rigorous process testing to optimize performance and validate new designs. This role involves hands-on laboratory work, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and translating experimental insights into practical bioprocessing solutions.
What you'll do#
- Support upstream process development projects aligned with specific goals and timelines.
- Conduct bioreactor experiments, including perfusion and fed-batch, for mAbs, recombinant proteins, and other biologics.
- Optimize cell culture parameters for mammalian cell lines such as CHO and HEK using next-generation bioreactor systems.
- Analyze and interpret experimental data, ensuring accurate documentation and reporting.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including downstream process development, automation, and analytics.
- Participate in technology transfer activities and assist laboratory staff as required.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a BS or MS degree in Biology, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field.
- Ability to take off a semester to work full-time.
- A basic understanding of bioreactor operations and mammalian cell culture is preferred.
- Ability to assist in designing and executing experiments, analyzing data sets, and troubleshooting process issues.
- Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills with a proactive, solution-oriented approach.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for technical audiences.
Location & details#
- Location: Marlborough, Massachusetts.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: Up to $28 per hour, depending on experience.
- Environment: Work in a Biosafety Level 2 laboratory; occasional extended hours or weekends may be required to support ongoing activities.
- Term: Rolling start beginning in August; duration is flexible.
