About the role#
Sargent & Lundy is seeking an AI & Automation Intern for the Summer 2027 term. You will join the Enterprise Data & Analytics team to work on projects that apply AI and automation to challenges within the power and energy sector. This role focuses on understanding business problems, evaluating potential technical solutions, and building practical tools to improve processes.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to define project goals and translate business needs into technical approaches.
- Contribute to the development of AI-driven solutions and automations using Python and modern frameworks.
- Support data preparation tasks, including data collection, cleaning, transformation, and feature engineering.
- Utilize AI-assisted development tools, such as GitHub Copilot or Cursor, as part of your daily coding workflow.
- Assist in building and testing scripts, notebooks, and workflow automations to deliver practical value.
- Participate in performance analysis and contribute to documentation and presentations regarding project outcomes.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Python for scripting, data analysis, or application development.
- Familiarity with AI/ML concepts and common Python libraries such as NumPy, pandas, or scikit-learn.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools as a regular part of coding.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A problem-solving mindset and the ability to work through ambiguous challenges.
- Familiarity with Git/GitHub and modern development workflows.

- Location: Wilmington, Delaware.
- Modality: Hybrid (3 days per week in the office, 2 days remote).
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Status: Full-time and paid.
