About the role#
The Beit Midrash Fellow position is a full-time role based in the center of the SAR High School academic community. Fellows split their time between teaching and learning with students and pursuing their own individual and group studies. The program offers two tracks: a professional track for those exploring education before moving into other careers, and a chinuch track for those considering a long-term career in education. Fellows receive mentorship from Judaic Studies faculty and participate in weekly educational leadership seminars led by school administration.
What you'll do#
- Teach and learn in the Beit Midrash.
- Support small group learning within Judaic studies classes.
- Design and implement co-curricular activities that promote the school's annual theme and values.
- Engage in individual learning directed by Rabbi Shmuel Hain.
- Participate in weekly educational leadership seminars.
- Facilitate one evening learning session per week with students.
What you'll need#
- A commitment to student-centered learning.
- An interest in Judaic Studies.
- The ability to design and implement co-curricular activities.
- A willingness to learn and teach under the guidance of faculty.
- Academic background in fields such as Philosophy, History, Sociology, Psychology, Communications, Human Resources, Art, or Media Studies.
- Flexibility to accommodate the fellowship schedule alongside graduate school commitments.
Location & details#
- Location: New York, New York.
- Modality: On-site.
- Commitment: Full-time.
- Schedule: Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM to 4:50 PM, and Friday until 1:10 PM.
- Compensation: This is a paid position with a stipend of $30,000.
