The Beit Midrash Fellow position at SAR High School is a full-time role based in the school's central learning space. Fellows divide their time between teaching, supporting small group learning in Judaic studies, and pursuing their own individual and group study. The program offers two tracks: a professional track for those exploring education before other career paths, and a chinuch track for those intending to pursue a career in Jewish education.
What you'll do#
- Teach and learn within the Beit Midrash, the center of the school's academic life.
- Provide small group support for Judaic studies classes in collaboration with faculty.
- Design and implement co-curricular activities that promote school values and annual themes.
- Participate in a weekly educational leadership seminar led by school administration and faculty.
- Engage in individual learning directed by Rabbi Shmuel Hain.
- Mentor with Judaic Studies faculty members.
What you'll need#
- A commitment to student-centered learning.
- An interest in Judaic Studies.
- The ability to design and implement co-curricular activities.
- A willingness to learn and teach under the guidance of faculty.
- Academic background in fields such as Philosophy, History, Sociology, Psychology, Communications, Human Resources, Art, or Media Studies.
Location & details#
- Location: New York, New York.
- Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 8:00 AM to 4:50 PM; Fridays until 1:10 PM. Includes one evening session per week.
- Flexibility: Graduate students may arrange for class scheduling on one afternoon per week.
- Compensation: This is a paid position with a stipend of $30,000.
