About the role#
As an R & D Intern at Saputo Inc., you will research, design, and evaluate materials, processes, and equipment within our plants. This role involves working directly with milk, whey, and cheese products to ensure they meet quality specifications. You will provide technical support to plants across the U.S. and assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment.
What you'll do#
- Perform microbiological, analytical, and organoleptic analysis on dairy products.
- Conduct lab testing, including moisture, pH, salt, fat, total solids, chlorides, COD, rennet, and Gel Electrophoresis.
- Maintain, clean, and calibrate all laboratory equipment.
- Document research work and process implementations.
- Monitor plant efficiencies, raw material utilization, and ingredient recoups.
- Review cheese production records and suggest improvements.
- Help coordinate product development activities at plant locations.
- Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices.
What you'll need#
- A bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Dairy Technology, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and presentation software for data collection and reporting.
- Strong writing skills and the ability to communicate professionally with various contacts.
- Experience or education in corporate communications.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions from technical information.
- Capability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliability, attention to detail, and a professional demeanor.
- Ability to work flexible hours and travel up to 50% of the time.
