About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship based in Waupun, Wisconsin. You will support our manufacturing plants by managing safety programs and ensuring compliance with OSHA and corporate standards. This position requires travel throughout the Wisconsin area and the upper Midwest.
What you'll do#
- Review, rewrite, and implement safety programs across plant locations.
- Coordinate and lead safety training sessions and toolbox talks with crews.
- Assist with compliance for programs including Hazard Communication, Emergency Action, Fire Prevention, Confined Space Entry, and Trenching and Excavation.
- Collaborate with employees and supervisors to complete Job Safety Analyses (JSAs).
- Conduct supplemental inspections when new processes, equipment, or substances are introduced.
- Help managers complete project safety pre-plans and hazard analyses.
- Verify that corrective measures for identified hazards are completed on time.
- Investigate injuries and illnesses to determine causes and prevent recurrence.
- Participate in post-incident analysis and communicate lessons learned.
- Create safety talks to support company initiatives and increase awareness.
- Submit weekly status reports on completed projects.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a bachelor's or graduate degree in safety or a related field.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong skills in data collection, problem solving, and drawing valid conclusions.
- Capacity to lead, influence, and motivate others.
- Proficiency in computer programs like Excel and Word.
- A valid driver's license and a personal vehicle.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a professional demeanor.
- Ability to work scheduled hours and overtime when needed.
