About the role#
Sands Anderson PC is hiring a Summer Associate for the 2027 program in the Richmond, VA office. You will join the Government Group and the Schools and Education Team. This role focuses on legal matters for public school divisions and higher education institutions. You will work on real client matters, receive mentorship from our attorneys, and build professional relationships within the firm.
What you'll do#
- Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda.
- Assist with drafting policies, agreements, and other legal documents.
- Support attorneys in litigation and administrative proceedings.
- Attend meetings, hearings, depositions, and client presentations when appropriate.
- Participate in professional development and networking opportunities.
What you'll need#
- You must be a rising third-year law student (3L) for the 2027 to 2028 academic year.
- Strong academic credentials and excellent research and writing skills are required.
- You should have a demonstrated interest in education law, public sector law, or government representation.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
- You must show a commitment to client service, professionalism, and teamwork.
- You should have a desire to practice law in Richmond, VA.
- You must commit to sitting for the July 2028 Virginia Bar exam.
