Clean-Up Student

About the role#

Reporting to the Operations Manager, this position is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized environment within the production area. This role offers students hands-on experience in an industrial setting and provides exposure to steel pickling processes.

What you'll do#

• Ensure the cleanliness of production floors, workstations, and surrounding areas.
• Collect, sort, and dispose of industrial waste, including scrap metals and chemicals, in compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
• Assist the production team with minor tasks such as transporting materials, cleaning equipment, and organizing workspaces.
• Respond to and clean up minor chemical spills, and report larger hazards to supervisors.
• Maintain and store tools and equipment properly.
• Follow safety guidelines and wear required personal protective equipment.
• Document cleaning schedules and report maintenance needs.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in high school, trade school, or a post-secondary institution.
• Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for long periods.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
• Diligence in maintaining an organized workspace.
• A basic understanding of safety procedures is preferred, though training is provided.
