Intern, Firmware Engineering

About the role#

The Firmware Engineering intern will work on project-oriented tasks under the direction of firmware development engineers. The focus of this role is the development of firmware used to control variable frequency drives (VFDs).

What you'll do#

• Design and develop firmware for industrial applications.
• Participate in product testing and certification processes.
• Perform coding activities using C/C++ and/or MATLAB/Simulink.
• Maintain and develop test setups and track firmware metrics.
• Document firmware applications and components.
• Conduct research into new technologies.

What you'll need#

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's or advanced degree in Engineering or Computer Science from an accredited college or university.
• Legal authorization to work in Canada (sponsorship is not available for this role).
• Previous internship or co-op experience.
• Proficiency or experience with C/C++ or MATLAB/Simulink.
• Exposure to hardware tools such as oscilloscopes and multimeters is an asset.
• Knowledge of PLC programming and Control Systems is preferred.

Location & details#

• Location: Cambridge, Ontario, Canada.
• Work Modality: On-site. Employees are expected to work from the office on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.
• Compensation: $20 - $32 per hour, based on skills, education, and experience.
• Employment Type: Full-time, rolling term.
