About the role#
As a Washington DC/DMV Organizing Intern, you will work with the National Organizing team to mobilize members and volunteers. This role focuses on responding to legislative and judicial developments and supporting organizing efforts for fall midterm elections and ballot measures. You will gain hands-on experience in grassroots tactics, volunteer recruitment, and advocacy event planning.
What you'll do#
- Plan and host weekly grassroots or advocacy events, such as phone banks and call-in days.
- Assist with organizing rapid response events and actions throughout the DC/DMV area.
- Prepare training materials to equip volunteers for effective advocacy.
- Recruit and engage members and volunteers to ensure strong turnout for actions.
- Track organizing and outreach efforts using project management tools.
What you'll need#
- Previous grassroots or electoral organizing experience, either professional or volunteer.
- Experience organizing others to get involved in a cause.
- An interest in gaining professional experience in politics and organizing.
- A commitment to a workplace environment that values diversity.
- Availability to work some nights and weekends to attend campaign events.
Location & details#
- This is a paid, part-time internship for Fall 2026, running from September 14 to December 4, 2026.
- The position is hybrid, based in Washington, DC, and the surrounding DMV area.
- Weekly hours range between 15 and 30 hours.
