About the role#
This is a paid, full-time internship and co-op position for the Fall 2026 term. The Machine Learning Researcher will join the Artificial Intelligence team to support research on large language models, with an emphasis on agentic AI, reasoning models, and evaluation frameworks. This role is based in East Hartford, Connecticut, and operates on a hybrid schedule.
What you'll do#
- Develop methods and algorithms to evaluate, verify, and improve the reasoning, planning, and decision-making capabilities of large language models.
- Design and execute experiments on a GPU cluster while benchmarking performance against established baselines.
- Explore agentic AI approaches, including systems that can plan, reason, and interact with tools and environments safely.
- Identify and mitigate model vulnerabilities, such as hallucinations and jailbreaks.
- Communicate research findings through technical reports and presentations.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an MS or Ph.D. program in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related Engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 1 year of MS or Ph.D.-level research experience focused on large language models.
- Minimum of 1 year of machine learning software development experience using Python.
- Proficiency with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Submission of academic transcripts with your application.
