About the role#
Rawls Veterinary Hospital offers a flexible externship program for DVM students. This program provides practical experience in a small animal practice to help you prepare for your career after graduation. You will work alongside our veterinary team to gain hands-on experience under the supervision of a mentor doctor. The program duration is flexible, ranging from two to eight weeks, and rotations include days, evenings, and weekends.
What you'll do#
- Gather patient histories and perform physical examinations.
- Develop diagnostic and therapeutic plans for medical cases.
- Scrub in to surgery and assist in patient management.
- Provide wellness care to patients.
- Develop client communication skills.
- Polish technical skills.
- Produce appropriate medical records, including SOAPs.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited DVM program.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Professional liability insurance (you must submit a certificate of coverage with your application).

- Location: Daytona Beach, Florida.
- Work modality: On-site.
- Compensation: Paid stipend of $250 per week.
