About the role#
Proxima is seeking a Compound Management Intern to join our team in Boston. This is a part-time, on-site role requiring a time commitment of 1-2 days per week. You will support our laboratory operations by managing chemical inventory and assisting with sample preparation for drug discovery workflows.
What you'll do#
- Manage daily chemical repository routines, including receiving, registering, and logging new materials into the Mosaic system.
- Process assay-ready samples by performing mass measurements, preparing DMSO stocks, executing serial dilutions, and reformatting microplates.
- Configure liquid handling automation equipment for experimental tasks.
- Maintain repository data accuracy through regular audits, reconciling physical assets with database records, and organizing cold-chain storage.
- Follow chemical safety protocols and regulatory guidelines while helping to improve operational workflows.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's program in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, or a related field, with junior or senior standing.
- Practical bench experience from coursework, research, or internships, specifically with gravimetric analysis and micro-pipetting.
- Strong documentation skills and precision in maintaining experimental records.
- Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets.
- Familiarity with laboratory safety regulations and hazardous reagent management.
- Reliable judgment and the ability to follow written standard operating procedures.
- It is helpful if you have prior exposure to laboratory information management systems (LIMS), experience with robotic liquid handling platforms, or background in high-throughput microplate screening.
