About the role#
The Local Reporting Network Fellow program supports investigative journalism in communities where such stories might otherwise go untold. This fellowship facilitates partnerships between ProPublica and local newsrooms to produce high-impact reporting. You will remain based in your home newsroom while receiving editorial guidance, data support, and research resources from ProPublica. The resulting work is published or broadcast by your local newsroom and simultaneously by ProPublica.
What you'll do#
- Produce investigative journalism in partnership with your newsroom and ProPublica editors.
- Submit a project memo detailing your proposed investigative work for the one-year fellowship duration.
- Collaborate with ProPublica senior editors and reporters throughout the reporting process.
- Utilize ProPublica data, research, and engagement reporting resources.
- Publish and broadcast your final work through your local newsroom.
What you'll need#
- A proven track record of investigative reporting and impact.
- The ability to propose impactful community journalism projects that address specific local needs.
- A strong understanding of audience engagement and how your project resonates with both local and national audiences.
- Experience collaborating effectively with editorial teams.

- This role is fully remote within the United States.
- The position is a full-time, one-year fellowship.
