About the role#
This Summer 2027 internship offers a hands-on opportunity to work with our Corporate Operational Excellence Team. You will be based at one of our manufacturing sites in Westfield, MA, Rochester, NY, Tulsa, OK, Chicago, IL, Rocky Mount, VA, or Appleton, WI. You will shadow local leadership and work directly with front-line operators to implement lean manufacturing concepts. The primary goal is to reduce manufacturing waste, increase operational efficiency, and build a problem-solving culture on the shop floor.
What you'll do#
- Lead continuous improvement projects across the site.
- Support the deployment of Managing for Daily Improvement as our lean management system.
- Help identify, prioritize, and execute improvement initiatives.
- Analyze operational data to support decision-making and identify areas for improvement.
- Execute audit programs to ensure the sustainment of continuous improvement activities.
- Assist in the maintenance of the site continuous improvement plan.
- Build and maintain working relationships with operations and business leaders.
- Support the application of best practices, operating standards, and metrics.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing an engineering degree, such as Industrial or Mechanical Engineering.
- Completed two or three years of college coursework.
- Previous classes in lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or industrial systems, or equivalent work experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Visio.
- Strong project management and data analysis skills.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with executive leadership, staff, and clients.
- Ability to identify problems and develop practical solutions.
- Fluent English language skills.
