About the role#
Power Construction is hiring a Preconstruction Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, paid, on-site position based in Chicago. You will work directly with our preconstruction team to learn the estimating and project planning side of the construction business.
What you'll do#
- Support the preconstruction team through all phases of estimating and project planning.
- Prepare quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, bid analyses, and value engineering recommendations.
- Assist with subcontractor solicitation, bid review, negotiations, and subcontract administration.
- Maintain databases for historical costs, unit pricing, and subcontractors.
- Develop a working knowledge of market costs, general conditions, and preliminary scheduling.
- Build and maintain relationships with clients and subcontractors.
- Use Revit models and project documentation to support estimating efforts.
What you'll need#

- Skills to manage historical cost and subcontractor databases.
- Experience or willingness to use Revit models and project documentation.
