About the role#
The CORE Data Service Lab Intern will support the Center for Outreach, Research & Education (CORE) at PlayCore. This role focuses on helping park and recreation agencies utilize research and data to advocate for the value of community play and recreation initiatives. This is a full-time, paid summer 2026 internship based on-site in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
What you'll do#
- Assist in conducting, coordinating, and evaluating groundtruthing research at parks and playgrounds.
- Curate data from publicly available sources to build data-driven stories for agency customers.
- Perform data processing tasks, including cleaning, coding, and summarizing information.
- Generate monthly reports and build agency-specific reports to share with professionals.
- Create data-driven advocacy resources to help agencies demonstrate their value.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Finance, I/O, GIS, Parks & Recreation, Data Analytics, or a related field.
- Demonstrated proficiency with MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to learn and develop new skills.
